Waterlube
Case studyFrom Oil-Based to Water-Based Lubrication in Embossing Processes
Download case studyCHALLENGE
In conventional embossing processes, mineral oil-based lubricants are still widely used to ensure smooth operation. However, due to increasing production speeds and ever-stricter quality requirements, the limitations of these products are becoming increasingly apparent.
Challenges related to safety, contamination, and operational efficiency are playing an increasingly important role in day-to-day production. As a result, there is a growing need for lubricants that are truly suitable for a wide range of applications. These include steel-on-steel, pin-on-pin, nested, micro-deco, micro-macro, perforated, and fan-embossing processes.
The main challenges:
- Increased fire risk due to the flash point and friction under high-speed conditions.
- Buildup of adhesive residue and dirt on embossing rollers.
- High lubricant consumption, which leads to higher operating costs.
- Persistent odor problems that affect both the production environment and the final product.
- Increasing regulatory pressure on oil-based lubrication systems.
- Inconsistent embossing quality due to contaminated or unstable roller conditions.
Solution
Product
Waterlube
Waterlube is a standard water-based lubricant for general applications in tissue production. Examples include embossing and lamination, applied by spraying.
Product
Waterlube Visco Plus
Waterlube Visco Plus has a higher viscosity. The product is ideal for applications that require a thicker lubricating film or for more demanding processes. Waterlube Visco Plus is suitable for application via spray, brush, and felt. This variant is primarily used when standard Waterlube does not provide sufficient viscosity.
Result
- Efficient lubrication without compromise. Experience excellent lubrication and performance thanks to a fully water-based formula. Waterlube is cleaner, safer, and more environmentally friendly than traditional oils.
- Meets the strictest environmental standards. Waterlube has been developed to comply with all relevant environmental and safety regulations. Furthermore, the product is not subject to CLP regulations and does not carry any hazard symbols.
- Solutions tailored to your process. Every production environment is unique. That’s why we develop customized solutions that are perfectly suited to your machines, materials, and working conditions.
- Lower maintenance costs, higher efficiency. Thanks to clean operation and minimal residue buildup, machines remain in optimal condition for longer. This results in less downtime and lower maintenance costs.
