Odour control is an essential part of occupational health and safety (OH&S) activities. Especially for industries trying to keep up with increasing government emission regulations and also trying to improve conditions for users and residents in the surrounding areas.

In most cases, the odour control solutions offered are air fresheners. The air fresheners fail to remove potentially toxic gases or they eliminate odours, introducing hazardous substances into the "cleaning" process.

O-SCENT IS NOT A PERFUME THAT COVERS THE SMELL

While other odour control systems claim to hide unpleasant odours, O-Scent has been proven to chemically convert dirty and potentially harmful gases into non-odorous, non-toxic by-products.

Independent tests have shown that O-Scent is effective in breaking down and reducing hydrogen sulphide, ammonia, sulphur dioxide, ethyl and methyl mercaptans and potentially toxic gases that are the most common sources of bad odours.

O-Scent is so effective that it makes often aggressive scrubber chemicals and other odour control technologies unnecessary.

O-Scent is generally diluted with water and sprayed into scented areas in a mist of small droplets. The essential oils in the droplets form a thin, electrostatically charged film around the droplets. The composition of this film attracts molecules that form the unpleasant odour. Fragrant molecules then adhere to the droplets where they are captured and neutralised by the mixture of essential oils.

THE REAL STORY IS COMPLETELY NATURAL.

While the O-Scent formula effectively eliminates odours, its natural, non-toxic make-up makes it gentle and non-threatening to the environment and users. O-Scent is completely organic and biodegradable. Furthermore, O-Scent does not disturb the balance of the environment in which it operates, but rather aims to improve it.

MINIMUM EXPENDITURE, MAXIMUM RESULTS.

Easy to install O-Scent diffusion systems are designed to require minimal capital outlay and maintenance compared to other mechanically comprehensive odour control systems. O-Scent is infinitely flexible in its application to a variety of industrial processes including oil refineries, waste water treatment plants, processing plants, landfill sites and a wide range of industrial activities. Simple atomisation equipment is available to apply O-Scent effectively in any indoor or outdoor environment. Due to the application flexibility of the product, existing odour control hardware can usually be easily adapted to distribute O-Scent to the required areas. This simple adaptation reduces further capital costs by avoiding the need for existing equipment.

Indoors - O-Scent can be diluted and applied topically to eliminate unpleasant odours in enclosed composting, water treatment, sludge treatment or waste processing areas. The treatment is a low-cost solution that creates a more pleasant, productive work environment.

Outdoor - O-Scent combats odours from aeration ponds, lagoons and sludge pits. These cost-effective systems are highly effective in breaking down odours and eliminating foul vapours that can spread to surrounding areas.

Because O-Scent is highly concentrated, it can be diluted with water to achieve a lower concentration than other neutralisers, thus reducing operating costs. O-Scent is so effective that it can often replace air scrubbers and other more elaborate odour control equipment used to deodorise chimney emissions. When scrubbers are installed, O-Scent can still be used as a safe, effective replacement for odour control, for potentially dangerous sodium hypochlorite, caustic or mixed cleaning solutions or as a secondary polishing agent.

DOMESTIC WASTEWATER:

The treatment of domestic wastewater generates odours that are strong, persistent and annoying to residents, businesses and industries in the vicinity of a wastewater treatment plant. Odours are generated to varying degrees in the treatment plant, with the main odour producing areas being the influent areas, settlers, digesters, aeration lagoons and sludge treatment areas. Each plant has its own specific problem areas. All these areas can be investigated and remedied with the use of O-Scent.

Odours generated naturally in the wastewater process are hydrogen sulphide, ammonia, carbon dioxide, skatols, mercaptans, amines and indoles. O-Scent can be introduced at any point in the waste system to control odour, including sewer lines, manholes, lift or treatment stations. O-Scent eliminates odours in the atmosphere, but does not affect any bacterial action that may occur in areas where liquids, sludge or soil are retained.

THE CHEMICAL PRODUCT:

O-Scent:

• Independent tests (OLfactometer) have shown that O-Scent drastically reduces hydrogen sulphide emissions to acceptable air quality standards;
• is not a masking agent and does not work in the same mode as less efficient counteractives;
• creates a neutral atmosphere where the smell has been removed, without creating a replacement smell.

INSTALLATION:

Where possible, existing odour control hardware will be used to apply O-Scent.

However, if an odour control system is absent, a full site assessment is carried out so that a recommendation can be made for the equipment best suited to the needs.

O-Scent can be applied in an atmosphere using a variety of flexible and efficient application methods. The only requirement is a power source plus water or air supply.

DILUTION:

O-Scent can be diluted with water in various percentages or ratios and applied at a rate that neutralises the unpleasant odour. Dilution ratios in wastewater treatment plants average 150:1. The purpose of O-Scent is to create a neutral atmosphere where there is no odour and no replacement odour.

SIMPLICITY OF CONTROL:

Once the O-Scent system is working effectively, little else needs to be done.

Most systems work "as needed", activating when odours reach a certain measurable level or starting when air movement causes the odour to move into urban areas. If the volume of treated air varies, the system can be adjusted accordingly.
